North Carolina's Crystal Coast

Day two here at Emerald Isle, on what's known as the Crystal Coast. My mom is here with us and what a great time we are having already! After all the hustle and bustle of visiting family and friends, we are truly vacating now.

Yesterday, we were out on the beach all morning, then came in during the heat of the day. Sitting on the covered back porch in rocking chairs was just fine by us, though!

While our locally-caught shrimp were brining and then marinating, we went back out to the beach for a late-afternoon walk/wade. The boys had fun watching fishermen and chasing waves. Dinner was fantastic: shrimp on the grill and pasta pesto. Simple, quick, summery. Here's to week three of our NC vacation....
